Search¶
Search the extracted text and metadata of every captured page in a project — find stale copy, missing metadata, or confirm a rebrand is complete, without opening captures one at a time.
Free text search¶
Type a phrase into the search box (e.g. "Black Friday 2025") to find every capture whose visible page text, title, or meta description contains it. Results show the matching page, language, viewport, capture date, and a highlighted snippet of the matched text.
Metadata search¶
Switch to Metadata mode to search structured fields instead of free text:
| Field | What it matches |
|---|---|
| Title | The page's <title>. |
| Meta description | The page's meta description tag. |
| Canonical URL | The page's canonical URL. |
For each field, choose a condition: Contains, Equals, or Missing (finds every capture where that field wasn't set at all — useful for finding pages with no meta description).
Filters¶
Narrow either kind of search by language, viewport, variable, page, or a date range. Filters combine — e.g. "old company name" + language = German + after March 2026.
Search within a collection¶
Open a Collection and use Search this collection to run the same search scoped to just that collection's captures.
What's not searchable¶
- Older extension-delivered captures created before extension page-content indexing shipped do not have an extracted content snapshot and cannot be searched retroactively. New cloud captures from the extension or dashboard Capture page are searchable. Free Local captures remain on the device and are never included in cloud search.
- Captures taken before Search shipped are indexed in the background after the fact; if a project has no results at all for an obviously-present phrase, indexing may still be catching up rather than the phrase genuinely being absent.
- Search does not (yet) understand per-language stemming — a German-language capture is matched the same way as an English one, so exact phrase matches work best across all languages.
